- The game introduces Legend Mode, which grants a side story for each character. This trend continues with alterations in the following Xtreme Legends expansion.
- Weapons can be upgraded up to level 11.
- Nine new rare items are introduced. Previous rare items can also be obtained through playing through specific Legend Modes. Sometimes, these are easier to complete than the original requirements.
- Xtreme Mode, a mercenary-like adventure where anything goes, is introduced. The main goal in this mode is to survive as long as possible and conquer the other provinces.

- No restrictions
- Requirements: Same as Sun Jian's legend mode, except that you need to seal all the gates.
Weapon Stats: lv 16 tiger amulet, lv 16 speed scroll, lv 13 nanman armour, lv 19 herbal remedy

Name: Cyclone
- No restrictions
- Requirements: Same as Zhao Yun, except that you need to seal all the gates.
Weapon Stats: lv 18 dragon amulet, lv 16 jump scroll, lv 11 horned helm, lv 20 elixir

Name: Obliteration
- No restrictions
- Requirements: Exactly the same as Lu Meng (you've got to seal all the gates anyways).

Name: Fengshen Rapier
- No restrictions
- Requirements: Same as Zhen Ji, except that you need to seal all the gates.
Weapon Stats: lv 14 dragon amulet, lv 17 jump scroll, lv 13 Huang's bow, lv 18 SSS

Name: Fengshen Sword
- No restrictions
- Requirements: Same as Zhou Tai, except that you need to seal all gates and get 500 KOs.
Weapon Stats: lv 19 peacock urn, lv 19 speed scroll, lv 14 jump scroll, lv 15 elixir
