Upon finding Lu Bu in the garden with Diao Chan, Dong Zhuo chases Lu Bu throughout the area, and eventually collides with Li Jue. Li Jue apologizes to Dong Zhuo, and insists his punishment should be death, but Dong Zhuo refuses to execute him. Li Jue goes on to suggest that Dong Zhuo should give Diao Chan to Lu Bu to keep their bond in tact. Dong Zhou agrees that this arrangement is proper, but also says he must think it over.
Diao Chan, however, is able to convince Dong Zhuo that she wants nothing to do with Lu Bu, thus Dong Zhuo refuses to send her to him. Upon hearing this news, Li Jue is infuriated, and asks Dong Zhuo, "You are not being beguiled by the woman, are you?” Dong Zhuo refuses to listen to Li Jue's consult, after which Li Jue exclaims, “We are dead men, slain by the hand of this girl.”
Dong Zhuo is later slain by Lu Bu and Diao Chan's father, Wang Yun. After Dong Zhuo's death, Li Jue captures and kills Wang Yun for his actions.
