As the fall of the Han Empire increased, many people turned over their beliefs to Zhang Jiao and his two brothers in a religious cult known as the Yellow Turbans or Yellow Scarves, due to the yellow cloth worn around their heads. When Zhang Jiao decided the time was right, he called on his followers to rise up against the Han in a revolt that would later be known as the Yellow Turban Rebellion.
